I am sooooooo excited for today’s Film Talk! Let’s dive right in and talk about IT! IT is based off the Stephen King book and was directed by Andy Muschietti and stars Bill Skarsgard as Pennywise. For those of you who have never heard of It, Stephen King, read the book the build up to this movie or seen the original mini series…. Shame on you and do you live under a rock?! Luckily for me, I knew of It and of Stephen King’s work right from young (thanks Mum).
But if you do live under a rock, IT is about a group of children in Derry who are being hunted by a creature that kills children. It likes to show itself as a clown but ultimately It uses anything in its power to scare and kill kids. Essentially IT is a movie about fear.
Today’ s Film Talk is on Dunkirk. Written and directed by Christopher Nolan and with an all star cast including Kenneth Branagh, Tom Hardy, Mark Rylance, Cillian Murphy, Anuerin Barnard and Harry Styles.
Dunkirk tells the story of the allied soldiers from the British Empire, France and Belgium that were stranded at Dunkirk surrounded by German soldiers and their evacuation from the beach during World War II.
I LOVED this movie! I was a bit late seeing Dunkirk and only saw it last Saturday and I think by that time the film had been out for three or four weeks. It has everything (and more) that you would hope for with a war film and the hype it received in the build up to its release.
This weeks film talk is turning to a subject I love! Horror. I have been eagerly anticipating Annabelle Creation for over a year and I finally saw it last weekend and was not disappointed. Let’s get stuck in…
Annabelle: Creation is the origin story to Annabelle. How the evil doll within The Conjuring universe became ,well, evil. The story follows a husband (Anthony LaPaglia) and wife (Miranda Otto) who allow a group of orphans into their home who then begin getting terrorized by a doll possessed by a demon pretending to be their daughter (Samara Lee) who passed away twelve years earlier.
I’m sorry I’ve missed a few weeks of film talk. With going on holiday and everything I have fallen behind in my movie watching and film write ups. But I’m back with with a talk on My Cousin Rachel.
My Cousin Rachel is about Philip (Sam Clafin) who plots revenge against his cousins wife Rachel (Rachel Weisz) as he believes she killed him. Things become complicated when all is not as it seems and he begins to fall in love with her. Is she innocent? Or has Philip fallen under her spell?
