Black Velvet Ice Cream is a homemade chocolate ice cream dyed black with some crushed Oreos running through for added flavour and texture. The flavour of this ice cream is hard to describe. It’s light and creamy, slightly vanilla and slightly chocolate flavoured with the added touch of cookies and cream. It sounds a lot but trust me. It works!
Welcome to day two of Black Out week! This week it’s all about black treats and desserts. Emo desserts if you will. (Remember these Black Velvet Cupcakes?) Today’s black out treat is Mini Black Velvet Cheesecakes. These are soft and creamy mini chocolate/vanilla cheesecakes with an Oreo base and topped with chocolate mousse. All dyed black of course.
I love mini cheesecakes! They’re so versatile and perfect single serving desserts. They hold and store well in the fridge for up to a week and don’t they just look so cute! I based these mini cheesecakes off my original chocolate marbled mini cheesecakes and just made the necessary adjustments. Those adjustments being the addition of the black food colouring and melted chocolate to achieve the red velvet not-quite-vanilla not-quite-chocolate flavour.
Black Velvet Cupcakes are soft, fluffy and moist, have the same flavour as red velvet but are completely black! Welcome to black out week!
It’s been far too long since I did a week dedicated to a specific theme or food. (If you’re completely confused by this statement, click here for the full explanation). I’ve changed all that with black out week! That means everything this week will be completely black so we’re talking food as black as my soul (kidding!) and A LOT of black food colouring.
This Triple Chocolate Mousse Cake is a flourless chocolate cake with layers chocolate and white chocolate mousse. The great thing about this cake is that it is automatically gluten free and wheat free!
Today’s recipe is one of those decadent, showstopping and completely indulgent desserts that pop up, oh, every once in a while on this blog. The triple chocolate mousse cake is a recipe that sounds technical and looks hard to make and is very impressive when serving at a dinner party or to guests but is really quite easy to make. It doesn’t even take very long!
I am sooooooo excited for today’s Film Talk! Let’s dive right in and talk about IT! IT is based off the Stephen King book and was directed by Andy Muschietti and stars Bill Skarsgard as Pennywise. For those of you who have never heard of It, Stephen King, read the book the build up to this movie or seen the original mini series…. Shame on you and do you live under a rock?! Luckily for me, I knew of It and of Stephen King’s work right from young (thanks Mum).
But if you do live under a rock, IT is about a group of children in Derry who are being hunted by a creature that kills children. It likes to show itself as a clown but ultimately It uses anything in its power to scare and kill kids. Essentially IT is a movie about fear.
